Renew OBU Mobile Application Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Oklahoma Baptist University, Inc. (“OBU,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and processes information obtained through our mobile application Renew OBU (the “App”). Please read this Privacy Policy before using the App. By using the App, you signify your agreement to the terms and conditions of this Privacy Policy. What We Collect

Below is a brief overview of the information we may collect via the App and the purpose of our collection; however, the type of information we collect depends on what you provide and how you interact with our App. Generally, the categories of information collected by the App includes:

  • Usage Data. This refers to data collected from use of the App, whether generated by your use (for example, where you visit on the App) or as a result of App infrastructure (for example, the duration of a page visit). This includes usage metrics, content interactions (including searches, views, and downloads), user history (including clickstreams and page navigation, but not tied to your identity), content viewed or searched for, page response times, and page interaction information. 
  • Payment Information. Donations are processed using Square Payment Processing, a PCI-compliant processor, so OBU does not access or store any donor payment information. The Square Privacy Policy can be reviewed here: https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/3796-privacy-and-security
  • Information You Provide to Us. The information we collect on or through our App may include records and copies of your correspondence (including email addresses), if you contact us and your search queries on the App.

How We Use Your Information

We process information in connection with our App and for other business purposes as follows:

  • Provide, deliver, analyze, and administer our App and related services.
  • Process transactions related to our App and administer accounts related to your donations such as updating totals for various funding projects around campus.
  • For internal research and development purposes for new content, products, and services, and to improve, test, and enhance the features and functions of our App.
  • Contact and communicate with you in connection with our App or other notifications, programs, events, or updates that you may have registered for.
  • Investigate, respond to, and resolve legal, security, or technical issues and complaints and as necessary for security purposes or to investigate possible fraud or violations of law.
  • Comply with the law and our legal obligations, including responding to a request or order from a court, regulator, or authority, as well as fulfilling our contractual obligations with our customers.

Disclosure of Your Information

We will not disclose your personal information except with service providers that help us provide the App. Those service providers are required to only use and disclose your information on our behalf and to keep it confidential.

App Privacy

Our App uses software code provided by third parties (software development kits or SDKs) that lets our software interact with the services those partners provide. Sometimes, these interactions will involve that business partner collecting some information from the device on which the software is run.

To view our privacy disclosures on Apple Nutrition Labels:

  • Go to the App Store on your iPhone or iPad.
  • Choose the app you want to check the privacy labels of.
  • Scroll down on the app’s download page and tap on See Details right next to App Privacy.

To view our privacy disclosures on Google Play Data safety section:

  • Open Google Play.
  • Browse or use the search bar to find an app.
  • Tap an app.
  • Under Data safety, you’ll find a summary of the app’s data safety practices.
  • For more detail, tap See details.

If you would like to opt-out of App-tracking for marketing purposes, follow the steps below:

On iOS:

  • When you download and open a new app, you’ll get a notification that asks if you want to let the app track your activity across other companies’ apps and websites. You'll also see information about what the app would track. You can tap Ask App not to Track to block that activity or Allow.
  • For apps that you’ve already downloaded and may have tracking permissions set up for, you can opt out of tracking under Settings, tap an app, and then tap to turn off Allow Tracking. Alternatively, you may go to Settings > Privacy > Tracking. You'll see in the list of apps that have requested permission to track your activity. You can tap to turn on or off tracking for each app.

On Android:

  • Go to the Settings app and navigate to Privacy > Ads. Tap Delete advertising ID, then tap it again on the next page to confirm. This will prevent any app on your phone from accessing it in the future.

Other Requests Concerning Your Information

For personal data that we have collected from you, you may make requests concerning the following issues:

  • Deletion: You may ask us to erase or delete all or some of your data. Please note that doing so may limit your ability to use certain functionality of the App and aspects of our services.
  • Correction/Modification: You may ask us to change, update, or fix your data in some instances, including if it’s inaccurate.
  • Object to, or Limit or Restrict, Use of Data: You can ask us to stop using all or some of your personal data or limit our use.
  • Right to Access and Take Your Data: You can ask us for a copy of the personal data you provided so long as we can verify your identity when you make such a request. Upon such a verified request, the data will be given to you in a portable, machine-readable format.

To make these requests concerning your personal information, please get in touch with us at the information above. When contacting us, please indicate your name, address, email address, personally identifiable information, and what you wish to do with it. We ask that individuals making requests identify themselves and identify the information requested to be accessed, corrected, or removed before we process any requests. We may decline to process requests if we cannot verify the requestor’s identity, if we believe the request will jeopardize the privacy of others, if we believe the change would violate any law or legal requirement or, cause the information to be incorrect, or for another or similar legitimate purpose.

Security

We protect the information we collect by maintaining physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards designed to prevent unauthorized access to data retained in our servers; however, due to the inherent open nature of the Internet, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information provided online.

Legal Notices

We may use your personal information to provide you with notice regarding a security incident by (a) sending a message to the email address you provide (as applicable), (b) posting to a publicly facing page of our App, (c) through major statewide media; and (d) telephonic means, including calls and text messages, even if sent via automated means including automated dialers (standard text and data messaging rates may apply from your carrier). Notices sent by e-mail will be effective when we send the email, notices we provide by posting will be effective upon posting, and notices we provide through telephonic means will be effective when transmitted or dialed. You consent to receive electronic communications from us relating to a security incident. It is your responsibility to keep your email address and any other contact information you provide to us current so that we may provide these communications to you.

Third-Party Apps

Please keep in mind that the App may contain links to other websites or apps.  We do not control these third parties’ privacy practices or tracking technologies. If you have any questions about targeted content, you should contact the responsible provider directly.  You are responsible for reviewing the privacy statements and policies of those other websites you choose to link to or from our App so that you can understand how those websites collect, use, and store your information. We are not responsible or liable to you or any third party for the privacy statements, policies, or content of third parties, including websites you link to or from our App, or the accuracy of any materials provided by third-party websites.

Children

We do not collect personal information from any person we actually know who is under the age of 18.  A parent or guardian may consent to the use of the App by a minor. The parent or guardian is solely responsible for supervising the minor’s use of the App and assumes full responsibility for interpreting and using any information or suggestions provided through the App. If we learn and confirm that we have collected or received personal information from a child under 13 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information. If you believe we have obtained personal information associated with children under 18, please contact us at the contact information provided above, and we will delete it.

Changes

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices. We will post any changes to our Privacy Policy on this page. If we make material changes to how we treat our users’ personal information, we will provide a notice that the Privacy Policy has been updated. The date the Privacy Policy was last modified is identified at the top of the page. You are responsible for ensuring we have an up-to-date, active, and deliverable email address for you and for periodically visiting this Privacy Policy to check for any changes.
