Curriculum Vitae

Biography

Leveraging more than 40 years of real-world experience, I inspire and instruct the next generation of accounting professionals at Oklahoma Baptist University (OBU) as an Assistant Professor. Since 2020, I've equipped undergraduates and graduate students with experience-based expertise in financial accounting and reporting, corporate and partnership taxation, forensic accounting and dispute resolution, and business ethics. I also conduct research on topics related to tax policy, fraud detection, and managerial accounting concepts. My mission is to inspire and prepare the next generation of accounting leaders with the knowledge, skills, and values they need to succeed in a dynamic and complex business world with a Biblical perspective. Honored by the Student Government Association at OBU with the Seven Who Care Award.

Before my tenure at OBU, I was a lead tax Partner at RSM US LLP and spearheaded the office's forensic investigations and dispute resolution practice. During my time there, I provided comprehensive income tax and business consulting services to clients across diverse industries, including energy, technology, consumer products, and real estate. With a focus on legal and tax controversy matters, I have offered expert testimony nationwide in state and federal courts. Additionally, I was honored to serve as an expert resource advisor for the White House Conference on Small Business.

My professional qualifications include licenses and certifications as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and Private Investigator (PI). Other past certifications include Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) and Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA). My academic journey consists of a Doctor of Business Administration - Accounting from Liberty University, an MBA from the University of Oklahoma, and a Harvard Kennedy School of Government's Executive Certificate in Public Policy.

My commitment to public service is evident through serving three terms as a member of the Oklahoma City Council and two terms as a member of the Oklahoma Accountancy Board, including two terms as chairman. In all facets of my career, whether in academia, consulting, or public service, my mission remains consistent: to foster excellence, integrity, and innovation in accounting while nurturing future leaders equipped to tackle the challenges of a dynamic and complex world.
