Associate Professor of Missions

Biography

Dr. Turner serves as associate professor of missions at OBU. She began that role during the 2023-24 school year. Prior to that position, Dr. Turner served as director of the Avery T. Willis Center for Global Outreach at OBU and helped facilitate study abroad and Global Outreach trips both domestically and internationally. She also directed efforts in OBU's various local ministry efforts.

Dr. Turner received her Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Oklahoma Baptist University and then went on to Southwestern Baptist Theology Seminary where she earned both a Masters of Divinity and a Doctorate of Ministry. She served as the director of International Ministries (North American Missionary) with the Oahu Baptist Network (North American Mission Board) from 1992 to 2011.

An interesting fact about Dr. Turner is that she was the captain of Great Britain’s Women’s Olympic basketball team in 1980. She is a dedicated professor and loves investing in the lives of students helping them to connect their gifts, abilities and passions to impact God's Kingdom with the Gospel.

Dr. Turner is married to Roger and together they have one son.
