Oklahoma Baptist University duo Amanda Stringer-Sauer, staff accompanist, and husband Greg Sauer, adjunct cello teacher and principle cellist for the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, will perform Monday, Feb. 7, at 7:30 p.m. in the university's Yarborough auditorium.
The program consists of a solo cello suite by J.S. Bach, a set of variations on a theme from Mozart's "The Magic Flute" for piano and cello by Beethoven, and a cello/piano sonata by Dmitri Shostakovich.
Stringer-Sauer has served as the Warren M. Angell School of Fine Arts staff accompanist this year as well as teaching piano privately.
She has a bachelor's of musical arts in piano from Vanderbilt University, a master's in musical arts piano from Indiana University, and a doctorate of musical arts in piano from the University of Oklahoma.
Sauer teaches cello at OU in addition to his adjunct teaching at OBU. He has degrees from the Eastman school of Music and New England Conservatory of Music.
His upcoming performances include a concerto with the Accademia Philharmonica at OU at the end of February, a series of chamber-music concerts in the San Francisco Bay area in May, and a guest artist/teacher at the Heifitz String Program in Annapolis, Maryland in June.
In December, the duo performed at the Quad-City chamber music festival, a non-profit chamber music organization that Sauer directs with his brother, Tom Sauer, in their hometown of Davenport, Iowa.
They also recently performed a recital on the "Arts at Messiah" series at Messiah Lutheran Church in Oklahoma City.
