Royal Ambassador Challengers from Baptist churches throughout Oklahoma will assemble with national and state leaders Jan. 13 for the first annual Oklahoma Baptist University sponsored Challengers Rally.
The seventh- through twelfth-graders and their directors will attend missions and ministry workshops and leadership seminars, converse with OBU students over lunch, and cheer on the OBU Bison in the men's 3 p.m. basketball game against Wayland Baptist University.
Alan Huesing, youth, mission, and education strategist with the North American Mission Board, will be the keynote speaker for the rally.
Keith Mack, men's ministry specialist with the Baptist General Convention of Texas, and Sam Porter, men's ministry specialist with the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma, will lead workshops.
A praise and worship band made of former Challengers, Element Five, will perform during the rally.
"The goal of the event is to enhance the young men's idea of missions, and to give them a little training," said OBU admissions counselor Lawrence Keith, director of the rally.
Huesing hopes the rally will be strategic in developing more leadership in the organization due to the caliber of the participants in Oklahoma and surrounding states.
Youth from Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana are also expected to attend.
