Preview Day for High School Underclassmen Next Week
March 27, 2002
Local high school sophomores and juniors can get an early start on choosing a college at Oklahoma Baptist University's Junior Sneak Preview Day, April 5.
More than 200 students are already planning to attend the event that serves as an introduction to college life at OBU. The preview day is set aside for high school students to meet with OBU students and faculty, tour campus, get the inside track on scholarships and financial aid and learn about majors and campus life.
"This is an ideal first campus visit for area sophomores and juniors," said Michael Cappo, OBU dean of admissions. "It's an in-depth look at opportunities that are available to OBU students and also a chance for prospective students to meet current OBU students from around the country.
"Students learn about both OBU and the college selection process," he said.
The preview day also will include discounted admission to an on-campus concert featuring Christian band MercyMe.
MercyMe travels extensively throughout the United States singing, leading worship, and ministering at churches, conferences, youth groups, college and singles groups, high schools and junior high schools, camps and concert venues.
The Texas band joined the record label under INO Records and Brickhouse Entertainment this year. Amy Grant recently sought the group's permission to record their hit song "I Can Only Imagine" from "The Worship Project" album.
Other albums include "Almost There," "Look," and "Traces of Rain, Vol. 1 and 2."
