OBU College Fair Starts Monday

September 13, 2002

Representatives from 85 colleges and universities nationwide are expected to attend, in addition to representatives from each branch of the military. Colleges will offer students information about academic programs, financial aid, application procedures, and housing options. Students also will have the opportunity to speak with financial institutions about student loans.

About 40 of the institutions represented at the fair will be Oklahoma colleges and universities. Schools from out of state will include University of Kansas, University of Arkansas, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, California Institute of Technology, Washington University, Baylor University, Stetson University, St. Olaf College and St. John's College, among others.

"The fair gives high school juniors and seniors an opportunity to explore their options out of the area," said Danielle Laule, OBU admissions visit coordinator. "This also gives them a chance to explore options other than college, such as technical schools and the various military branches."

Laule said 30 area high schools have been invited and more than 1,000 students are expected to attend the fair

OBU sponsors the event, along with Arvest Bank, BancFirst, Bank of America, Bank of Oklahoma, Bank One, Nelnet Educational Services, Local Oklahoma Bank, Oklahoma Student Loan Authority, Shawnee News-Star, Stillwater National Bank and Trust Company and Tinker Federal Credit Union.
