Oklahoma Baptist University senior Katy Thurber has been named 2005 ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District by the College Sports Information Directors Association, it was announced recently.
Thurber was selected as one of four infielders from the district ballot that included 27 infielders from NAIA and NCAA Division II schools in Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, New Mexico, Louisiana and Mississippi.
Thurber, who was a 2004 NAIA All-America Scholar Athlete and a nominee for that award in 2005 as well, will now be placed on the national ballot.
Thurber is a four-time All-Sooner Athletic Conference and three-time All-Region VI selection. She was a 2003 NAIA All-American and has started every game in her four-year career at OBU. She ended her college career second in all-time hits, home runs and doubles for the Lady Bison.
