Oklahoma Baptist University senior Katy Thurber has been named a 2005 NAIA All-America Scholar Athlete, it was announced Tuesday.
Thurber earned the honor for a second year in a row. The elementary education major from Bixby also was named a 2005 ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District by the College Sports Information Directors Association.
Thurber is on the national ballot for the CoSIDA award, with the winners to be announced in June.
Thurber is a four-time All-Sooner Athletic Conference and three-time All-Region VI selection. She was a 2003 NAIA All-American and has started every game in her four-year career at OBU. She ended her college career second in all-time hits, home runs and doubles for the Lady Bison.
