Eight faculty members will begin their service at Oklahoma Baptist University this fall. The group includes representatives coming from Arkansas, Missouri, Texas, Indiana, New York and England.
Dr. David De Seguirant is an associate professor of music and director of choral activities. He comes to OBU after serving nine years as associate professor of music and director of choral activities at the University of the Ozarks, in Clarksville, Ark.
Seguirant returns to his alma mater. A 1986 OBU graduate, he earned a bachelor of music degree in music theory and composition. He was an adjunct faculty member at OBU from 1991-92. He holds a doctorate of musical arts and choral conducting from the University of Oklahoma, as well as a master of music and choral conducting degree from OU.
Justin Hardin begins his first year as an assistant professor of New Testament. He is back in the United States after living in Cambridge, England, for four years, while he was a graduate student at the University of Cambridge.
Hardin is a Ph.D. degree candidate at Cambridge, where he earned a master in philosophy degree. The Henderson, Texas, native earned his master of divinity degree from the Beeson Divinity School of Samford University and his bachelor of arts degree from Ouachita Baptist University.
Dr. Lee Hinson is associate professor of church music, coming to OBU after serving six years at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He also was the director of church music program at MBTS and the minister of choral music at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, in Liberty, Mo.
Hinson holds a doctorate of musical arts from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and a master of arts degree in religious education. He earned his master of music degree from Texas A&M Commerce, and his bachelor of music education degree from Baylor University.
Hossein Kalami is an instructor of French. He previously served as an adjunct instructor at Moore-Norman Technology Center and taught Beginning French at the University of Oklahoma.
Kalami earned his master's degree in French literature and his bachelor's degree in French at OU.
Dr. Nathan Malmberg comes to OBU as an assistant professor of chemistry. He recently taught at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, N.Y., and also held positions at Bradley University and the University of Colorado.
Malmberg holds a Ph.D. degree in chemistry, with a biochemical emphasis, from Colorado. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Wyoming.
Stephen Miles is an instructor of music, after serving as the department chair of music and audio engineering at San Jacinto College in Pasadena, Texas. He taught at SJC for seven years as the music theory coordinator. Both his master of music and bachelor of music theory degrees were earned at Texas Tech University.
Dr. John Mullen is an assistant professor of philosophy, coming from Valparaiso University, where he served as a visiting assistant professor for two years. He also taught philosophy at the University of Notre Dame and Texas A&M University.
Mullen earned his Ph.D. degree in philosophy and his master's degree in history and philosophy of science at Notre Dame. He also holds two master's degrees in philosophy and theological studies from Texas A&M, and earned his bachelor's degree from the United States Naval Academy.
Dr. Ben Myers is an assistant professor of English. He comes to OBU after serving at the University of the Ozarks for two years.
Myers earned his Ph.D. degree in English and his master's degree in English and American Literature at Washington University. He earned his bachelor's degree in English from the University of the Ozarks.
