Steel Magnolias Kicks Off OBU's Theatre Season

OBU Theatre will open its 2005-06 season with Steel Magnolias by Robert Harling on Oct. 6.
The play runs in Craig-Dorland Theatre located in Shawnee Hall, Oct. 6-8 and Oct. 14-15 at 7:30 p.m. A 2:30 p.m. matinee will wrap up the production on Oct. 16. For ticket information, call 878-2347.
Recently revived on Broadway for a successful performance run, Steel Magnolias follows the lives of six indomitable Southern women as they share personal triumphs, tragedies, beauty tips, recipes and more than the occasional piece of scandalous gossip.
OBU also will present The Complete Works of Shakespeare (Abridged) by Adam Long, Daniel Singer and Jess Winfield, Nov. 15-17 at 7:30 p.m.
The annual Theatre for Young People will feature The BFG by Roald Dahl and David Wood Feb. 24-25 and March 3-4 at 7:30 p.m.
The Fantasticks, a musical by Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt, will conclude the season April 20-21 and April 28-29 at 7:30 p.m. Matinee shows will shown April 22 and 30 at 2:30 p.m.
Additionally, in Sarkeys Studio Theatre, OBU Theatre and the University Concert Series will co-sponsor "Live at the Black Box" at 9 p.m. on Sept. 16, Nov. 18, Feb. 3 and April 7.
2005-06 OBU Theatre Subscriptions are available through Oct. 16. Tickets are $7.00 for adults and students for each show, $8.00 for the musical and $25 for a season pass.
Tickets are $5.00 for children age 12 and under, $6.00 for the musical, $1.00 for The BFG and $15 for a season pass.
