Lightning Thwarts OBU Upset

Oklahoma Baptist University's upset over Oral Roberts University went unrealized Friday night when the game was called in the presence of cloud-to-cloud lightning.
The Lady Bison, on the strength of a goal by Autumn Oury and several saves by Maira Negri, led 1-0 in the 67th minute. ORU managed to have the game suspended three minutes before the 70th minute, which would have resulted in the game counting for both teams.
Coaches from neither side could agree on a make-up date.
Oral Roberts is the preseason favorite to win the Mid-Continent Conference of NCAA Division I. ORU had defeated East Central, 11-0, in an exhibition contest.
After a pair of cancellations, the OBU women will have their "season opener" in Laredo, Texas, against Texas A&M International, at 10 a.m., Sept. 2
