Oklahoma Baptist University's softball team will have a new look to it with the addition of seven new players, including three pitchers, when the season opens next spring.
Four junior college transfers and three freshmen will be on the opening day roster.
Hillary Davis, Melissa Wilt and Casie Smith join returning starter Amanda Zahara to give OBU quality depth at pitcher.
Davis, who comes in as a sophomore, transfers from Eastern Oklahoma State. She was MVP at Bristow High School, where she earned All-Region and All-State honors in addition to being a four-time All-Conference selection. She also plays outfield and is a Presidential Scholar.
Wilt is a junior from Santa Ana College in California, where she was named MVP. She won the Calvary Chapel School's Iron Woman Award in 2002.
Smith transfers from Paris Junior College in Texas. She also plays second base and was MVP of her Blooming Grove (Texas) High School team.
Freshman catcher Jayme Boyer of Shawnee will join Brooke Stevens behind the plate this season. The Shawnee High School product was All-State, Big All-City, Suburban Conference MVP and All-Conference last season for the Wolves, while earning an Academic Letter Jacket.
Danielle Glasser will be trying to land a spot in the infield. A freshman out of Tuttle High School, Glasser was an All-State selection last season for THS.
Two new outfielders are in the mix with junior Taranne Burton and freshman Ashley Thomason working for playing time.
Burton transfers from Butler Community College, where she was an honor roll student, after having attended Union High School in Tulsa. Thomason, who lives in Shawnee, was an All-State pick for Bethel High School and has a wealth of State Tournament experience, including the state slowpitch championship her senior season.
OBU softball opens Feb. 17 in Springfield, Mo.
