Oklahoma Baptist University's annual Homecoming Gala, showcasing the Warren M. Angell College of Fine Arts, will take place Friday, Nov. 11 at 8:30 p.m. in Raley Chapel's Potter Auditorium.
Faculty and students will perform during this annual benefit concert which raises money for the university's endowed music scholarship fund.
"The faculty and students of the division of music always look forward to performing for returning alumni, parents, and former students," said Dr. Paul Hammond, dean and professor of music for the College of Fine Arts. "The music scholarships funded by the Gala continue to support outstanding music students who will represent OBU superbly in their careers."
Participating in the Gala are the University Chorale, the Bisonettes, the Bison Glee Club, the Bison Jazz Quartet, soprano Bethany Hailey accompanied by Keith Whitmore on piano, and pianist Stacey Miller.
The University Chorale will present "I Thank You God," by Lloyd Pfautsch; "My Heart Dances," by James Fritschel; Roy Ringwald's arrangement of "Precious Lord, Take My Hand;" "A Nightingale Sang In Berkeley Square" arranged by Gene Puerling; and "Ev'ry Time I Feel the Spirit" by Moses Hogan with a solo sung by Jeremy Simmons.
The Bisonettes will perform "O Aula Nobilis," by William Mathias; "Esto Les Digo" by Kinley Lange; "Hold On," arranged by Jay Broeker; and "And God Gave Music," by Darla Eshelman.
The Bison Glee Club will present "Deep River" arranged by Roy Ringwald; "Joshua," arranged by Mitchell B. Southall; "All That Hath Life and Breath," by Rene Clausen and Robert Scholz; "Sing Me to Heaven," by Daniel E. Gawthrop and James Holloway; and "Lifted in Song," by Daniel E. Gawthrop.
The Bison Jazz Quartet will perform "Sponge," by Randy Brecker. Members of the Bison Jazz Quartet are John Mark Dadulo on drums, Olivier David on piano, Adam Ray on saxophone, and Tim Thompson on bass. Leading the band is trumpet player Kevin Pruiett, OBU assistant professor of music.
Hailey, a junior bachelor of music education major from Raleigh, N.C., will sing "Mein Herr Marquis," by composer Johann Strauss.
Miller, a senior piano major in piano from Plains, Kan., will play "Capriccio" by composer Johannes Brahms.
