Dr. Michael Martin, dean of Oklahoma Baptist University's Joe L. Ingram School of Christian Service, has accepted the position of vice president of academic affairs and academic dean at Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in Mill Valley, Calif. He will assume the new position in January 2006.
Dr. Warren McWilliams, Augie Henry professor of the Bible, has been named interim dean of OBU's School of Christian Service, effective at the end of the current semester.
Martin came to OBU in 2003, after serving as a professor of New Testament at Golden Gate for 19 years. He also has taught courses at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and California Baptist University.
Martin and his wife, Beth, have two sons, Philip and Garrett.
A longtime member of the OBU faculty, McWilliams came to OBU in 1976. He teaches introductory Bible courses, biblical ethics, and theology courses. He has published many books, including "Free in Christ: The New Testament Understanding of Freedom" and "Dear Chris: Letters on the Life of Faith."
In 1986, McWilliams received OBU's Distinguished Teacher Award. He also has been included in Who's Who in the South and Southwest, Who's Who in Religion, Who's Who in Biblical Archaeology and Biblical Studies, and Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
McWilliams is a member of University Baptist Church in Shawnee, and is a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He serves as supply preacher and Bible teacher for churches around the state. He and his wife, Patty, have two daughters, Amy and Karen.
