Ruth McGavern, former Oklahoma Baptist University music instructor, passed away Thursday, Dec. 15, at 5 a.m. She was 92.
The widow of Dr. Clair McGavern, former OBU music professor, served on the university's fine arts faculty for 29 years, retiring in 1978. She taught private piano lessons until her death.
McGavern graduated from Syracuse University in 1934. She married Clair in May, 1936, and began teaching music at Murray State College, in Murray Ky., later that year.
McGavern is survived by her two sons, Donald McGavern and his wife Maxine and Keith McGavern and his wife Carol Ann; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
