Bisonmobile Hits The Road
December 22, 2006
The Bisonmobile hit the road in late October. The truck literally offers a new view of OBU.
The green and gold 2006 Nissan Titan King Cab is covered in a wrapping which features OBU's Bison athletic logo and the website www.bisonmobile.com.
"This is a unique way for us to introduce more people to Oklahoma Baptist University," said Bruce Perkins, OBU director of admissions. "The truck is definitely getting noticed on the highway and in communities across our region. We believe the more people know about OBU, the more they will want to consider attending the university or sending their students to our campus."
OBU officials say the Bisonmobile is much more than a rolling billboard.
"When the Bisonmobile shows up at an event, it will include opportunities for students and families to pick up materials about the university and our academic and financial aid programs," said Perkins. "It also will include OBU t-shirts and other giveaway items. If people see the truck at an event, they should take the time to stop by for a visit."
The truck is a unique advertising investment for a university which has been nationally recognized for fiscal stewardship.
"It's a little out of the ordinary for us," said Marty O'Gwynn, head of OBU's public relations program. "Colleges and universities consistently compete to be noticed in the marketplace. We are taking a strategic step to attract attention. A key benefit of investing in the Bisonmobile is that it is a traveling 'message' which we can send all over the state and the region. It is on the road most of the time."
"We want Oklahoma Baptists to have the Bisonmobile at their churches," said Perkins. "They can request the Bisonmobile for their events by going to www.bisonmobile .com and completing an online form. It is an easy way to help spread the word about the kind of education our youth can find on Bison Hill."
