Oklahoma Baptist lost a tough overtime game to Lubbock Christian in Texas Thursday, 69-65 in overtime.
In a game that came down to each possession, OBU was hurt by a controversial technical foul. LCU was inbounding the ball and Aaron Perez stole the ball and drove for a dunk. He was called for a technical foul when he hung on the rim while and LCU player was below him.
A second official met with the referee who made the call, but the call stood despite protests form the contrary.
Tyler Hill hit the free throws and LCU had the ball out of bounds.
OBU didn't help themselves with 30 turnovers, while forcing just 13.
"Really disappointed in the way we played the entire game," said OBU coach Doug Tolin. "We're getting worse handling the ball. Just get a few more shots and you're in business. We turned it over the first four possessions of overtime."
OBU led 57-50 with 3:17 to play, but did not score from there while Bernardo Rocha scored five in a 7-0 run to send it to overtime.
The OT didn't work well for either team until the 2:35 mark of the game. The LCU scored the first five points and kept OBU at bay.
Derrick Huffman had 18 points and Rocha 17 for LCU, while Brent Jones led OBU with 16, followed by Evan Grace with 15 and Charles Carter with 10.
Now 15-3 overall and 7-3 in the SAC, the Bison play at Wayland Baptist on Saturday.
