Oklahoma Baptist coach John McCullough knew he had a good team heading into Saturday's road game at Oklahoma Christian University. After OBU's 96-41 win over the Lady Eagles, he knows just how good it can be.
OBU handed perennial National Tournament participant Oklahoma Christian its worst loss in the program's history. The old record was 47 points in a 97-50 loss to Phillips.
"That was a show right there," said McCullough. "Everything was just clicking tonight."
Make that everyone. Every Lady Bison scored in the rout and seven different OBU players hit three-pointers for a season-best 14 in a game. The Lady Bison shot 56 percent from the field and 48 percent from outside the arch.
OBU also won the rebounding battle, 50-27, had a season-high 28 assists and matched the season-best with 13 steals.
The Lady Eagles had a lead for the first six minutes, but after a second three-pointer by Gamble in a 14-0 run, OBU had the lead for good. The Lady Bison had runs of 8 and 10 points in the first half to build a 47-23 halftime advantage.
OBU hit 64 percent from the field in the first half, including 58 percent from long distance.
Jennifer Jupin led OBU with 17 points on 7-9 shooting. Heather Graham had 16, Gamble had 15, Betsy Simmons had 12 and Keely Tolin added 10. Simmons also had 10 boards.
Now 13-0 overall and 5-0 in the SAC, OBU hosts MidAmerica Christan Thursday at 6 p.m.
