OBU Adds Elgin's Basler

Elgin High School senior Abigail Basler has signed a letter of intent to play softball at Oklahoma Baptist University beginning in the 2008-09 season.

Basler, a middle infielder and outfielder, was a 2007 All-State selection and a two-time EHS Defensive Player of the Year. She helped Elgin to two state championship finals.

The daughter of Steve and Peggy Basler, Abigail has also excelled in other areas, helping Elgin become State Softball Academic Champions last season. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club and is Student Council President.

"Abby is a well-rounded person and a great fit for OBU," said Lady Bison coach Pam Fink. "She's a strong addition to the program and will challenge our returning players next year. We're excited to get her."

"I decided it was the right place for me because of the softball program and the atmosphere at the university," Basler said of OBU.
