Bison Drop Two to LCU

February 29, 2008

"Those were two good arms they threw out there at us today," said OBU coach Bobby Cox of LCU complete game winners Chris Holguin and Gary Poynter.

OBU took a 1-0 lead in the opener, scoring in the first inning on a Josh Collazo RBI single.

Lubbock Christian, hitless through the first two innings, reached Josh Palmer (1-1) for four hits and two runs in the third inning and then added two more in the sixth.

OBU was held to three hits in the game - singles by Collazo, Kyle Cooper and Frank Avilla.

The second game got away from the Bison in a hurry as OBU committed three first inning errors and trailed 6-0 before picking up a bat.

Christian Ruiz scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the first for the lone OBU tally in the game.

OBU again was limited to three hits - singles by Ruiz, Collazo and Avilla.

Now 16-3 overall and 6-2 in the SAC, the Bison host LCU for the series finale Saturday at 1 p.m.
