McCollum Challenges Students to Global Outreach

September 18, 2008

"The gospel is simply profound, and profoundly simple, and the nations are desperate to hear it," McCollum said.

Following Acts 1:8, the theme for OBU's Global Outreach (GO) Week, McCollum used a dozen other references from Scripture to emphasize his point.

McCollum serves as executive director of Light Bearers Ministries, a global publishing and teaching ministry dedicated to sharing the gospel message to the entire world. One way Light Bearers Ministry, based in Fayetteville, Ark., assists college students is by purchasing houses near university campuses and then renting them to students attending that university. In exchange, the student renters are taught how to effectively share a Christian message, and their rent money is used to fund missions.

GO Week is an annual campus-wide event filled with activities, fairs and service projects to help equip OBU students to live out the theme Scripture for the week.

The GO Week Team will complete GO Week with a campus chapel service at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 19. On Saturday, Sept. 27, the GO Week Team will sponsor a local mission project for students. The project will begin at 9 a.m. For more information, contact OBU's Global Outreach offices at (405) 878-2372 or visit www.okbu.edu/go.
