Visionary Leader Lance Humphreys Challenges Students
April 8, 2009
Lance Humphreys - a visionary who invests in church planters and business leaders through Giant Leaders, Vision360 and 3DMinistries - joined Oklahoma Baptist University students Friday, April 3, during a weekly chapel service to speak about the love of God.
The former pastor of Bridgeway Church in Oklahoma City, Humphreys said he has a passion to see a generation filled with faith, and to see cities and nations transformed by the love of God. He reiterated that the zeal OBU students and their generation possess amazes him.
"I have had a growing sense for years that God has his hand on this university in a special way," Humphreys said.
The chapel service opened with a prayer published in A.W. Tozer's book, "The Knowledge of the Holy." Tozer's book has been the basis of this year's chapel theme, "Lost and Found: Reclaiming the Knowledge of the Holiness of God."
"The Father Himself loves you," said Humphreys. "The Father doesn't play favorites. The Father's love is based on who he is. The Father loves because he is love. The Father loves because that's what his heart is like."
Humphrey's message was based on John 16:27, which says, "No, the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God."
"We know what it's like to experience perfect love, a perfect Father," said Humphreys. "The minute we start rejecting that love, we do something that I am really good at, something that OBU students are really good at: we start hiding."
Rather than rejecting the best opportunities, Humphrey encouraged students to be free in God's love for them.
