Nursing Professor Jasmin Johnson Earns Doctorate

Dr. Jasmin Johnson, Oklahoma Baptist University assistant professor of nursing, earned her doctorate in educational psychology from Oklahoma State University. She graduated in May.

"This educational achievement will be the third nursing faculty member to have a doctoral degree," said Lana Bolhouse, dean of the School of Nursing. "Since Dr. Johnson's doctoral studies were in education, her work will add expertise to the instruction in the OBU nursing program. Also, completing this degree will make her eligible to teach in the nursing graduate program."

Johnson has been a professor at OBU for more than 10 years. The classes she instructs include acute care nursing, pediatrics and pharmacology. She has provided a simulation experience for nursing students prior to a clinical in a pediatric unit. She also has experiences as an acute care nursing faculty member, supervising students' experience in indecisive care units and surgery rooms.

Johnson received her bachelor's degree from Oral Roberts University and her master's degree from University of Oklahoma. She recently was published in the Journal of Christian Nursing on the topic "Passion for the Profession."
