Spring Chapels Continue C.S. Lewis Theme
January 24, 2011
During the spring 2011 semester, students at OBU will hear a variety of speakers bring messages on this year's chapel theme, "A Return to the Simplicity of the Gospel," based on the book "Mere Christianity" by renowned Christian author C.S. Lewis.
All chapel services begin at 10 a.m. in Raley Chapel's Potter Auditorium. The community is invited to attend the hour-long services which include worship led by OBU student musicians.
The first chapel of the semester will be led by Dr. Bobby Kelly, OBU Ruth Dickinson professor of religion, on Wednesday, Jan. 26. Kelly will speak on the topic, "The Great Sin."
"Today I come to that part of Christian morals where they differ most sharply from all other morals," Lewis wrote in reference to the topic. "The vice I am talking of is Pride or Self-Conceit: and the virtue opposite to it, in Christian morals, is called Humility."
