OBU to Host ‘Arts on The Hill’ Event Nov. 7 During Homecoming
October 29, 2015
Alumni, friends, students, faculty, staff and the public are invited to share in celebrating OBU as the University hosts “Arts on the Hill” Saturday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m. The event is part of OBU’s “Zip! Bang! OBU! Homecoming 2015” weekend Nov. 6-7. The event is free of cost.
“Arts on the Hill” will take place in the Art Building on OBU’s campus, located on Midland on the west side of Kickapoo. Patrons are encouraged to park just west of the Art Building on the south side of Bailey Business Center, which is adjacent to the Art Building.
This first-time event will feature an evening of alumni artists and their work. The night will showcase musical acts Judith, featuring OBU alum Kinsey Charles, '05; and The Atom Ray Trio, featuring alumni Micah McCaslin Smith, '10, and Adam Ray, '05. The event will also feature a reading by Dr. Brent Newson, a 2003 OBU alumnus and assistant professor of English.
Culinary delights courtesy of Cuppies & Joe, operated by Elizabeth Diefenderfer Fleming, '04, and Megan Diefenderfer Mathews, '04, will be served. A wide array of visual art pieces will be on display, from alumni through the years. Art pieces by OBU Professor of Art Steve Hicks will likewise be on display.
Lori Hagans, executive director of the OBU alumni association, is thrilled to bring “Arts on the Hill” to campus for homecoming weekend. “We are excited to offer this new event during Homecoming. It is a privilege to showcase their talent and offer this type of venue to our alumni, as well as the OBU and Shawnee communities. We hope this is the first of many years to come.”
