OBU Campus Celebrates the Season During Annual Fine Arts Christmas Chapel Dec. 5
December 5, 2018
OBU students, faculty and staff celebrated together once again during the University’s annual Fine Arts Christmas Chapel hosted by Dr. Dan Reeder, Albert J. Geiger Professor of Finance. The beloved holiday tradition is full of student musical performances, funny memories from the previous year and hilarious videos.
Reeder opened Christmas Chapel with the traditional karaoke to several classic Christmas songs, roaming the aisles of Raley Chapel’s Potter Auditorium to select students and faculty to sing sections of the songs.
The service next featured a video of some of OBU’s most loved professors and the CAB stage band performing, “All I Want for Christmas is You.”
The acapella group True Voice then performed, “Winter Wonderland,” Dr. Ben Shute and Laura Stewart played a stirring violin duet of, “Good King Wenceslas,” and the University Ringers performed, “Go, Tell it on the Mountain.”
The festivities continued with the Bison Glee Club performing, “Mary Sat A-Rockin’,” the Bison Jazz Orchestra performing, “Santa Baby,” and the Bisonettes performing, “What Sweeter Music.” 519 Collective and the Gospel Choir performed, “He Has Come,” scriptures were shared regarding Christ’s incarnation, and the congregation sang, “O Come, All Ye Faithful.”
Reeder then presented the top five Christmas Chapel ideas that included the nursing program and Hobbs College, as well as funny pictures from the semester.
Christmas Chapel came to an end with the University Chorale performing, “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.” A highlight of every academic year on Bison Hill, Christmas Chapel is the most popular chapel service of the year, where students and faculty gather together in Potter Auditorium to celebrate the season and attend the final chapel of the fall semester.
