OBU Crowns Harvest Court During Homecoming Halftime Oct. 19

OBU announced the 2024 Harvest Court winners during halftime of its Oct. 19 football game against Southwestern Oklahoma State University. The game kicked off at 6 p.m. inside Crain Family Stadium at the Hurt Complex. The events took place during The Weekend, OBU’s homecoming celebration, Oct.17-19. OBU President Dr. Heath A. Thomas and First Lady Jill Thomas participated in the ceremony.

Seniors were nominated by their peers in six different categories: most servant-like man, most servant-like woman, best all-around man, best all-around woman and harvest king and harvest queen. The student body voted for the winners in each category earlier in the week.

Ryleigh Andrews, a vocal music education major from Choctaw, Oklahoma, was crowned harvest queen and Adam Clifton, a political science major from Duncan, Oklahoma, won harvest king.

The best all-around woman went to Grace Adcock, a forensic psychology major with a minor in exercise science from Owasso, Oklahoma, while Judah Skelton, a Christian ministry major with a minor in worship studies from Edmond, Oklahoma, won best all-around man.

Addison Miller (Beatty), a natural science major from Oklahoma City, was selected as the most servant-like woman and Brendan Miller, a Christian ministry major from Corn, Oklahoma, won most servant-like man.

Additional finalists for harvest queen included Addison Saunders, an elementary education major from Joplin, Missouri and Ruby Dilts, a journalism and mass communication major with an emphasis in print media from Lewisville, Texas. Other finalists for harvest king included Sergio Vazquez, a musical arts major minoring in education from Sahuarita, Arizona and Ryan Harris, a biology major from Edmond, Oklahoma.

Other finalists for best all-around woman included Jenna King, a communication studies major with a minor in music from Piedmont, Oklahoma and Abby Ettinger, a communications major from Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Other finalists for best all-around man included Carl Wilkerson, a philosophy major from Sand Springs, Oklahoma and Jubal Nelson, a computer science major from Cokato, Minnesota.

Finalists for most servant-like woman included Zoe Duck, a communication studies major from Beggs, Oklahoma and Shelby Green, an English secondary education major from Wichita, Kansas. Most servant-like man nominees included Roman James, a Christian ministry major from Tulsa and Steven Schmidt, an accounting major from Battle Ground, Washington.

The crowning of the harvest queen is a longstanding OBU tradition dating back to 1920. The first harvest king was crowned in 1996. Later, the categories of most servant-like man and woman and best all-around man and woman were added.
