OBU’s Kaylen King Wins Gold at Addy Awards for Package Design
February 18, 2025
OBU senior Kaylen King, a graphic design major from Bethany, Oklahoma, earned a prestigious Gold Addy Award at the Addy Awards, presented by the American Advertising Federation on Feb. 15, 2025, in Oklahoma City.
King’s winning project, Rx Juicery, was a conceptual health drink design created for OBU’s Package Design course. King was competing against students from major institutions such as the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State University, and the University of Central Oklahoma. There were more than 1,000 overall entries this year.
Corey Fuller, OBU’s Ruth Jay Odom professor of fine arts and professor of graphic design, praised King for her dedication and success.
“We’re very proud of Kaylen and her exceptional accomplishment,” Fuller said. “She won silver last year at the Addy Awards, so we were ecstatic to learn that she’d earned gold this year, her senior year.”
Fuller emphasized the difficulty of winning in the highly competitive Package Design category, noting that King’s recognition highlights both her creativity and technical skill.
“Kaylen is one of those rare students who puts her best effort into all of her endeavors,” he said. “She’s also been a highly successful student-athlete with our Bison track team.”
OBU’s continued success at the Addy Awards reflects the strength of its Art and Design Division in preparing students for creative careers.
