OBU’s Master of Divinity is biblically rooted, theologically faithful, and practically relevant. As a student and/or practitioner, you will receive foundational knowledge and specialized skills to adequately equip you for ministry. You can pursue a Master of Divinity fully online, in-person, in a hybrid format, as well as through our 5-year Bachelor of Arts / Master of Divinity program.

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in the U.S. or foreign equivalent as approved by a specific program with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. Official transcript(s) must reflect work from all colleges or universities contributing to your degree. Please send an electronic copy of your official transcript to graduate.info@okbu.edu.

  • Statement of Purpose—Please type a writing sample using the prompts below and send the completed statement to graduate.info@okbu.edu. (Each part should be approximately 150 words in length.)
    • Explain why you have chosen to pursue a master’s degree at OBU.
    • Describe your main academic interests, academic strengths, and academic limitations at this time. Explain any special circumstances you feel should be considered in the application process.
    • What do you hope to achieve in your career in 5-10 years, and how do you think this program will help you achieve these goals?
    • Specify what you personally hope to accomplish while studying here at OBU.

Applicants who do not meet the 2.5 GPA admissions standard may apply for Conditional Acceptance into the program.

Students may transfer credits toward up to half of the degree for the Master of Divinity, including credits from a completed graduate degree.

Program Options

Standard Master of Divinity

The standard program offers foundational biblical, theological, and practical knowledge to prepare you to lead effectively in various ministry contexts. This program features 18 hours of biblical studies, 18 hours of theological studies, 18 hours of applied studies, and 18 hours of electives that could include multiple ministry practicums, a thesis, and much more.

Advanced Standing Master of Divinity

Students may earn advanced standing in our Standard Master of Divinity program if they have previously completed a degree related to the fields of biblical studies, theology, or ministry from a CCCU or IABCU institution with a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher. Upon review of the transcript, up to 12 hours can be awarded toward the Master of Divinity.

5-Year Bachelor of Arts / Master of Divinity

The Master of Divinity may also be pursued as part of our Bison Plus program, allowing students to pursue a bachelor’s and master’s degree in a rigorous, accelerated format that saves them time and money without sacrificing quality. Students pursuing the 5-year program will earn a Bachelor of Arts in Theology & Ministry and a Master of Divinity in just 156 hours with flexibility to choose an emphasis and plenty of elective hours.
