To nominate an individual for the Alumni Achievement Award, Graduate of the Last Decade Award, or the Profile in Excellence Award, fill out the Award Nomination Form linked below. In order for a nomination to be considered, supporting documents or letters of recommendation are required.
Alumni Achievement Award
This is the highest award given by the Alumni Association, and it is judged to that standard. There are less than 200 winners of this award in its history. The award, though not expressly stated, is usually conferred for a lifetime of work. The Committee will often move nominations with less than 20 years of work into the Profiles in Excellence Award category and consider them there. As in all the other categories, documentation is helpful for the Committee to understand the full weight and breadth of a nominee’s career. Contacting the nominee for additional information is highly recommended. These awardees reflect God’s glory and shine a light on OBU. Show in your nomination that your nominee deserves to be recognized with this award. Anyone from the OBU community may nominate potential award recipients.
Past Alumni Achievement Award Recipients
Graduate of the Last Decade
This award recognizes a graduate that has made outstanding strides in their field of work within the first 10 years of their graduation. With only one awardee among over 2,500 potential graduates in the past 10 years, the nominee needs to have achieved a great deal to be selected. The nomination needs to detail specific ways the nominee has excelled in their work. Documentation in the form of news or magazine articles is very helpful. A written recommendation is noteworthy if specific details of the writer’s personal knowledge that support the nomination are expressed. Anyone from the OBU community may nominate potential award recipients.
Profile in Excellence Award
This award is conferred on those that are still active in their field or have retired. Documentation of the nominee’s accomplishments is critical. A detailed vitae, newspaper or magazine article(s), list of performances or publications, etc. are helpful to the Committee as they weigh the merits of many outstanding candidates. Past awardees of this award have covered a wide spectrum of vocations. The key here is “excellence” in what they do. Anyone from the OBU community may nominate potential award recipients.
